Built around what you actually need to prove

When off-the-shelf equipment does not fit the experiment or development task, we can help turn a testing requirement into a practical rig or bench setup.

  • Mechanical frames, fixtures, mounts and sample handling
  • Sensors, instrumentation, wiring and data acquisition
  • Prototype integration, functional checks and iteration

What we can help develop

Research & experimental rigs

Purpose-built setups for repeatable experiments, sample positioning, controlled measurements and research hardware.

Product & component validation

Fixtures and prototype rigs for evaluating function, performance or repeatability during engineering development.

Instrumented prototype systems

Mechanical hardware combined with sensors, electronics and data capture where the test needs more than a simple fixture.

Still defining the test?

You do not need a finished specification to start. A target measurement, failure mode, experiment or rough sketch is often enough for an initial feasibility discussion. Send the requirement →

From test requirement to working rig

01

Define

Clarify what needs to be tested or measured, the operating constraints and what a useful result looks like.

02

Design

Develop the mechanical arrangement, instrumentation, interfaces and practical build architecture around the requirement.

03

Build & validate

Fabricate, integrate and functionally test the rig, then iterate where the development work shows it is needed.

Common questions

Can you work from an early or incomplete requirement?

Yes. Early-stage development is a core use case. We can start from the test objective, existing hardware, sketches or a rough specification and help define a sensible first stage.

Can you integrate sensors and data acquisition?

Yes. Test rigs can include suitable commercial sensors, prototype instrumentation, wiring and data-capture hardware where measurement is part of the requirement.

Can you use existing equipment or fixtures?

Yes. Existing hardware can be incorporated where it is suitable, which can reduce unnecessary redesign and keep the project focused on the missing capability.

Do you only work with companies in Sheffield?

No. Development and build work is carried out from our Sheffield workshop, but we support research and engineering projects across the UK.

What should I send for an initial discussion?

A short description of what needs to be tested, measured or validated is enough to begin. Drawings, CAD, photos, existing equipment details and target measurements are useful where available.

Need a bespoke test rig or research setup?

Send the test objective, existing hardware and any sketches or technical files. We can help define a practical first stage and the route to a working system.
